Beauty of whatever kind...

"Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears."

Edgar Allan Poe, “The Philosophy of Composition” (Text-02), Graham's Magazine, vol. XXVIII, no. 4, April 1846, 28:163-167

Today I realized that, although I thought I had been working only on a collection of short fiction, I had actually been crafting a second, very different one at the same time. It’s finished now, and I must say, Poe was right; when I saw the completed work, my reaction was one of sheer awe at still being able to surprise myself after all these years. I didn’t see this book coming, and as it turns out, it’s probably one of the most meaningful and honest pieces I’ve ever created. Yes, I think it’s beautiful. And yes, I wept.

Who knows? I might actually be a sensitive soul after all.
