ORIGIN STORY

We, too, lessen and wane, 

destined to give in and fade away, 

ebbing while hoping not to evanesce, 

flagging and withered on the vine.

Written and published on January 27, 2026 – in response to a #vss365 prompt on Twitter/X – these words ended up becoming the catalyst for creating the blog NOIR ON THE VINE. In many ways, they encapsulate the wake-up call I got after losing two very close relatives in just 13 months (one of whom was my own age). We all mourn in different ways, I suppose. I tend to write.
